The Order of the Lilac is a consortium that focuses on the time between 1300 to 1450; and particularly on the European martial arts of that time period.
This was an era when Europeans evolved into critical thinkers; it was a time to resurrect the wisdom of the ancient Greek philosophers. The absolute rule of the church had been crushed and obedience to dogma gave way to the rational mind. It was the tumultuous adolescence of European society- the doorway to the Renaissance.

Marsilio of Padua writes
The Defender of Peace,
signifying the end of absolute rule of the church and the rise of politics in the law-making process.		 Edward III becomes King of England Edward, Prince of Wales (The Black Prince) is born. The Hundred Years' War begins
between England and France.		 The Order of the Garter is formed by King Edward III.

The Black Death (bubonic plague)
sweeps through Europe.		 The Black Prince dies. King Edward III dies. Dome of the Florence Cathedral completed by Brunelleschi. Gutenberg makes his printing press. Constantinople is conquered by the Ottoman Turks and the Eastern Roman Empire falls.

The Hundred Years' War ends.
