The Order of the Lilac is a consortium of Historical European Martial Arts students. The order focuses on but is not limited to the practice of long sword systems of the 14th and 15th Century (see timeline).

The order derives its name from Rochester, New York- "The Flower City", world famous for it's lilacs.

We are not, however, a martial arts school. The main thrust of our organization is to study and practice all forms of historical martial arts, with the intent to compete in tournaments.

We are a Chivalric Order of tournament fighters; a fraternal order, sharing like interests and goals.

The Order of the Lilac is a member of  Inter-Medieval, an International historical martial arts organization with members representing most  European Countries and the United States.

Some say that the age of chivalry is past, that the spirit of romance is dead. The age of chivalry is never past, so long as there is a wrong left unredressed on earth.
- Charles Kingsley (1819-75)
British writer and clergyman.
